HS SPORTS NEWS – OHSAA LEADER RESIGNS

Ohio High School Athletic Association (OHSAA) Executive Director Dr. Dan Ross has announced his resignation; effective September 15th.

-Ross, the OHSAA’s ninth-ever commissioner, began his duties back in 2004.

NBA – CAVS WIN AT HOME LAST NIGHT

Cleveland won 104-103 versus Orlando on Thursday night

-The Cavaliers snapped a 4-game losing skid with the victory last night in a game where they had to come back and win after blowing a 23-point lead.

-Isaiah Thomas led the Cavaliers with 21 points and 4 assists.

NBA NEWS – ALL-STAR CAPTAINS AND STARTERS ANNOUNCED

Cleveland’s LeBron James and Golden State’s Steph Curry were named as captains and starters for this year’s All-Star Game in Los Angeles. James was the top vote-getter overall with more than 2.6 million votes. LeBron will be making a NBA record 14th straight All-Star Game start.

-James and Curry will chose from a pool of 8 other NBA players that were named starters on Thursday; regardless of which conference they play for.  All-Star reserves will be named on Tuesday.

NBA NEWS – PLAYERS SUSPENDED

Houston Rockets’ players Trevor Ariza and Gerald Green have been suspended two games each for aggressively entering the L.A. Clippers locker room after their game on Monday night.

-Ariza and Green were reportedly looking to confront one or more Clippers’ players following their loss; which included some on-court incidents and the ejection of L.A.’s Blake Griffin.

NBA – DRAMA INVOLVING PAUL PIERCE/ISAIAH THOMAS TRIBUTES

Cleveland Cavalier Isaiah Thomas has told his former team to not air a video tribute when he returns on February 11th.  That date happens to also be the night that the Celtics plan to raise former superstar Paul Pierce’s jersey to the rafters and retire his number 34.  Pierce also reportedly told Boston that he wanted the night to himself and to not run the video tribute to Thomas.

-After learning of Pierce’s feelings, Thomas said on Twitter that the team should just focus on Pierce and forget the video.

-When Thomas returned as Cavalier the first time earlier this month, he did not play and declined having a video tribute shown because of not playing and that he wanted his family there for it.

NFL – BROWNS NEWS & NOTES

-Cleveland linebacker Joe Schobert has been named to his first Pro Bowl.  Schobert, in his second year, was tied for first in the league in tackles this season.  Schobert was a first alternate, replacing Ryan Shazier of the Steelers, who suffered a severe back injury last month.

-Browns rookie defensive lineman Myles Garrett has been named to the Pro Football Writer’s of America All-Rookie Team.  The number-one overall pick had 7 sacks in 11 games.

-Former New York Giants head coach Ben McAdoo has been interviewed by the Browns for the offensive coordinator job.  McAdoo was fired by New York in December after a 2-10 record.  McAdoo is linked to new Browns GM John Dorsey; working together for seven years in Green Bay.  Recently fired Titans head coach Mike Mularkey is also a candidate for the position.

NBA – GOLDEN STATE TOO MUCH FOR CAVS

Golden State beat Cleveland 118-108 on Monday night

-After leading by 2 after the 1st quarter and by 7 at halftime, Cleveland trailed by 2 entering the 4th quarter and then missed 17 of their first 19 shots in the 4th quarter as the Cavaliers home winning streak ended at 13 and Golden State’s road win streak increased to 13 games.

-Cleveland was led by LeBron James’ 32 points while Kevin Durant was Golden State’s top scorer with 32 points as well.  Cleveland has lost 8 of their last 10 games.

COLLEGE BASKETBALL – OHIO STATE NOW IN TOP 25

The Ohio State Buckeyes have entered the AP Top 25 for the first time since the 2014-15 season; coming in at #22 in this week’s poll.  Ohio State has a 15-4 overall record and are 6-0 in the Big Ten.

MLB BASEBALL NEWS – PLAYERS ON THE MOVE

-Pittsburgh has sent 5-time All-Star outfielder and face of the franchise Andrew McCutchen to the San Francisco Giants for relief pitcher Kyle Crick, a minor league outfielder and $500,000 in international signing bonus money.  McCutchen had been a Pirate his entire career, playing for Pittsburgh since 2009.

-Free agent outfielder Curtis Granderson is going to Toronto on a one-year $5 million deal.  The 36 year-old veteran played for the Dodgers and Mets a season ago.

-Utility player Howie Kendrick has reportedly reached an agreement with the Washington Nationals on a 2-year $7 million contract.  Kendrick, a 7-year veteran, played for both Washington and Philadelphia a season ago.

Jacksonville beat Pittsburgh 45-42 on Sunday afternoon

-Leonard Fournette rushed for 109 yards and 3 scores as Jacksonville pulled off the upset on the road to advance to Sunday’s AFC Championship Game versus New England.

-Ben Roethlisberger threw for 5 touchdowns and 469 yards in the loss; and despite rumors of retirement, “Big Ben” said after the game that he’ll back next season.

Minnesota defeated New Orleans 29-24 on Sunday evening

-Stefon Diggs pulled down a 61-yard touchdown catch from Case Keenum as time expired.

-Minnesota travels to Philadelphia for the NFC title game on Sunday.

-Three of the four teams in the title games on Sunday have never won a Super Bowl (except for New England).

NFL NEWS – PATRICIA LINKED TO LIONS JOB

-New England defensive coordinator Matt Patricia is expected to be named the new head coach of the Detroit Lions, replacing the fired Jim Caldwell. Contract details are expected to be worked out after the Patriots season is over.

-Free agent first baseman Adrian Gonzalez has reportedly reached an agreement to sign with the New York Mets.

NFL NEWS – BROWNS HIRE ASSISTANT GM

The Cleveland Browns on Wednesday hired former Green Bay director of football operations Eliot Wolf to be their new assistant general manager.  Wolf joins new Browns GM John Dorsey and the recently hired vice president of player personnel, Alonso Highsmith, formerly of the Packers as well.

MLB NEWS – INDIANS RE-SIGN ALLEN, LOSE BRUCE, GAME TIMES ANNOUNCED

-The Cleveland Indians have avoided arbitration with closer Cody Allen; signing Allen to a one-year $10.5 million deal.

-Former Indians outfielder Jay Bruce is returning to the team that sent him to Cleveland late last season.  Bruce is going back to the New York Mets on a 3-year, $39 million contract.

-The Indians will have 12 games on national TV in 2018.  The Tribe will appear on ESPN six times (one Sunday night game – May 20th at Houston), and three times each on Fox and FS1.  SportsTime Ohio will air 155 games.  The Indians will play eight home weekday matinee games, the time of which will change to 1:10 pm this season, instead of 12:10 in previous years.

NFL NEWS – RAIDERS OFFICIALLY INTRODUCE GRUDEN

Sandusky’s Jon Gruden was officially introduced as head coach of the Oakland Raiders during a press conference on Tuesday.

-Gruden previously was the Raiders head coach from 1998 to 2001 before being traded to Tampa Bay where he coached the Buccaneers until 2008.

-The 54 year-old former Monday Night Football broadcaster replaces Jack Del Rio, who went 25-23 in three seasons with the Raiders.

-Gruden’s contract is reportedly for 10 years and nearly $100 million.

NFL NEWS – FORMER BROWNS COACH HIRED AS DEFENSIVE COODINATOR 

The Green Bay Packers are expected to hire former Cleveland Browns head coach Mike Pettine as their defensive coordinator to replace the fired Dom Capers.

-Pettine coached the Browns from 2014 to 2015 where he amassed a 10-22 record.

Alabama defeated Georgia 26-23 in overtime last night

-After trailing 13-0 at halftime, the Crimson Tide benched starting quarterback Jalen Hurts in favor of freshman Tua Tagovailoa who threw a 41-yard TD pass in OT to DeVonta Smith for the win.

LeBron James has been named the NBA’s Eastern Conference Player of the Month for December.

-In 14 games, James averaged a near triple-double with 27.5 points, 8 rebounds and 10 assists.This is the 36th time that James has won the award in his career, the most in NBA history; and is the second straight month he has took home the honor.

LeBron James is second in All-Star voting as the first batch of results came in on Thursday.  Milwaukee Bucks’ forward Giannis Antetokoumpo is the top vote getter overall and in the Eastern Conference.

Two big time college quarterbacks have declared for the NFL Draft.

-UCLA signal caller Josh Rosen made the announcement via Twitter while USC QB Sam Darnold shared the information on his Instagram.  Both are expected to be high draft picks.

COLLEGE FOOTBALL NEWS – UCF TO HOLD ‘NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP’ PARADE

UCF, the only undefeated college football team this season, has decided to claim themselves as “national champions” and place a championship banner inside their stadium.

-The Knights, who beat Auburn in the Peach Bowl, will also hold a championship parade at Disney World on Sunday. UCF entered the bowl game ranked 12th due to not playing in a “Power 5 conference”.

NFL NEWS – BROWNS HIRE NEW EXEC, LEWIS BACK, PALMER RETIRES

-The Cleveland Browns have reportedly hired former Green Bay executive Alonzo Highsmith as a vice president in the team’s personnel department. Highsmith spent 19 seasons with Green Bay and worked alongside new Browns GM John Dorsey from 2000 to 2012.

-The Cincinnati Bengals are bringing back longtime coach Marvin Lewis.  The team announced Tuesday that they have signed Lewis to a year two-year contract through 2019.  Lewis has been with Cincinnati for 15 years.

-Arizona quarterback Carson Palmer has announced his retirement.  The 38-year-old spent 15 years in the NFL with the Cardinals, Raiders and Bengals.  Palmer ranks 11th all time in career completions.

NBA NEWS – LEAGUE SAYS DURANT FOULED LEBRON

The NBA said Tuesday that officials missed three foul calls on Kevin Durant in the final 1:12 of Golden State’s 99-92 win over Cleveland on Christmas Day.

-According to the league’s ‘Last Two Minute Report’, officials missed a call with 1:12 left against Durant on James as well as two different fouls against Durant on the same LeBron drive to the basket with under 30 seconds to go. If the latter foul would’ve been called, James would’ve had two free throws with a chance to cut Golden State’s lead to one point.

-The report also stated that officials didn’t call James for a foul on Draymond Green with 33 seconds left.

-The game featured a controversial non-foul call late in the game as LeBron James drove to the basket with Kevin Durant making contact with James.

Hall of Fame broadcaster Dick Enberg passed away at the age of 82 on Thursday; likely due to a heart attack.

-Enberg worked for CBS, NBC and ESPN where he covered 28 Wimbledon tennis tournaments, 10 Super Bowls and eight men’s college basketball championship games.  He retired in 2016 after seven seasons as the play-by-play television voice of the San Diego Padres.

The Cleveland Indians have reportedly signed free agent first baseman Yonder Alonso to a two-year, $16 million contract.

-Alonso is coming off a career season with Oakland and Seattle where he made the all-star team for the first time while hitting 28 home runs.

MLB NEWS – SANTANA WRITES LETTER TO INDIANS

Former Cleveland Indians’ first baseman Carlos Santana was introduced as a member of the Philadelphia Phillies on Wednesday.

-Santana inked a letter to the Indians organization and their fans; thanking Cleveland and letting everyone know how much he’ll miss being a Cleveland Indian.  Santana went on to say that he will always leave a piece of his heart in Cleveland.

-Santana, who had been with Cleveland since 2010, recently signed a three-year, $60 million deal with Philadelphia.

NFL NEWS – RODGERS SHUT DOWN

Green Bay quarterback Aaron Rodgers has been shut down for the rest of the season.  With the Packers now out of playoff contention, Rodgers has been placed back on injured reserve.

NFL – SUNDAY’S NOTABLE GAMES – BROWNS LOSE AGAIN, PATS BEAT STEELERS

Baltimore beat Cleveland 27-10

-Browns quarterback DeShone Kizer threw two interceptions, had just 146 yards passing and also fumbled the ball in the end zone to give Baltimore a defensive touchdown.  The Browns dropped to 0-14 on the season and will play at Chicago (4-10) next week.

New England defeated Pittsburgh 27-24

-Pittsburgh had a potential game-winning touchdown overturned by replay in the final minute which led to an interception in the end zone.

-Steelers all-pro wide receiver Antonio Brown left the game with a calf injury and will likely miss next week’s game on Christmas Day at Houston; but is expected to return for the playoffs.

Minnesota beat Cincinnati 34-7

-Bengals quarterback Andy Dalton had a rough game; throwing two interceptions with just 113 yards passing as Cincinnati fell to 5-9 on the year.

Dallas defeated Oakland 20-17 in the Sunday night game

-Dallas kicked a go-ahead field goal with less than 2-minutes left; and Oakland quarterback Derek Carr fumbled the ball a few inches from the goal line with 31-seconds to go to give Dallas the win.

More members of the Cleveland Indians bullpen have departed.

-Former Cleveland Indians reliever Joe Smith has signed a two-year contract with the Houston Astros.  Smith played in 21 games for the Indians last season after being traded from Toronto. Smith also pitched for Cleveland from 2009 to 2013.

-The Indians have also have traded relief pitcher Shawn Armstrong to Seattle for $500,000 in international bonus pool money.  Armstrong appeared in 21 games for the Indians last season with an E.R.A. of 4.38.

-Reliever Bryan Shaw signed a three-year deal with Colorado earlier this week.

NFL NEWS – GOODELL SIGNS EXTENSION

NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell has reportedly signed a five-year contract extension to remain in the league’s top position.

-The new contract is worth $200 million, about $40 million per year, if bonuses are approved by the owners and all the incentives are paid out.  The contract runs through the 2023 season.

MLB BASEBALL NEWS – CLEVELAND TO EXPAND PROTECTIVE NETTING

The Cleveland Indians will extend the current safety netting at Progressive Field to the far ends of each dugout for the 2018 season (from Section 164 to Section 140).

The International Olympic Committee has banned the country of Russia from participating in the 2018 Winter Games in South Korea.

-The ban due to findings from a 16-month investigation of cheating and doping by the country in the 2014 Winter Games in Sochi.

-Certain individual Russian athletes will be allowed to participate but will compete under a neutral flag.

NBA – CAVS HAVE NOW WON 12 STRAIGHT

The Cleveland Cavaliers defeated Chicago last night 113-91

-Kevin Love and Dwayne Wade each scored 24 and LeBron James had 23 points for the Cavs.

-Cleveland’s next game is Wednesday at home against Sacramento (7:00 pm on WLKR).

NBA NEWS – ROSE RETURNS; LEBRON PLAYER OF THE WEEK, LIVINGSTON SUSPENDED

-After leaving the team due to personal reasons, Cavs guard Derrick Rose has returned to the Cavs and will resume rehab of his injured ankle.  Rose left the Cavaliers the Wednesday before Thanksgiving as he contemplated his future in the NBA due to mental anguish over a series of significant injuries.  Rose will likely return to game action in a few weeks.

-LeBron James was named the NBA Player of the Week; leading the Cavaliers to a perfect 4-0 record after averaging 27 points, 8 1/2 rebounds and 9 assists.

-Golden State guard Shawn Livingston and NBA official Courtney Kirkland have both been suspended for an incident Sunday where the two bumped heads.  Livingston will sit one game; while Kirkland has been pulled out of the NBA’s rotation of officials for a week.

-Steelers linebacker Ryan Shazier was taken off the field on a cart and to the hospital due to a back injury.

NFL NEWS – GIANTS FIRE HEAD COACH AND GM; GRONK SUSPENDED

-The New York Giants fired both head coach Ben McAdoo and General Manager Jerry Reese on Monday.  Defensive coordinator Steve Spagnuolo was named the Giants interim head coach.  A week after being benched, Giants veteran quarterback Eli Manning is expected to start this Sunday versus Dallas.

-New England superstar tight end Rob Gronkowski has been suspended for one game by the NFL for a late hit on a defenseless player. “Gronk” was penalized on the play where he hit Buffalo cornerback Tre’Davious White while White was face down on the ground.  Gronkowski will appeal the suspension.

NFL NEWS – BROWNS TO PLAY GORDON THIS SUNDAY

After being suspended for all of 2015 and 2016, Cleveland wide receiver Josh Gordon is scheduled to make his return to the field this Sunday when the Browns play at the L.A. Chargers.

-Browns head coach Hue Jackson told the media Monday that he plans to play Gordon as much as he can handle.  Cleveland still needs to activate Gordon before he can play.

COLLEGE FOOTBALL NEWS – BUCKEYES TO NOT INVESTIGATE BARRETT/PHOTOG INCIDENT

Ohio State head coach Urban Meyer called for an “all-out investigation” into which specific camera operator bumped into quarterback J.T. Barrett before the Michigan game, leading to Barrett’s knee injury.

-That will not happen according to OSU Athletic Director Gene Smith, but Smith said the Big Ten Athletic Office is looking into what led up to the incident and what corrective measures can be done to prevent it from happening again.

-J.T. Barrett’s status is “probable” for the Big Ten Championship Game this Saturday night versus Wisconsin.

Tennessee will reportedly no longer name Ohio State defensive coordinator Greg Schiano as their head football coach after public outcry against the hire.

-Tennessee had signed a memorandum of understanding with Schiano and were planning on announcing the hire last night.

-The outcry has to do with Schiano’s alleged connection to knowledge of child abuse during the Jerry Sandusky era at Penn State; which Schiano has denied, after being a former assistant coach there.

FOOTBALL NEWS – FORMER OHIO STATE STAR DIES IN CAR CRASH

Former Ohio State football star Terry Glenn died in a car accident early Monday morning near Dallas, Texas.

-Glenn, who played for the Buckeyes at receiver in the early to mid-1990’s, was a first-round pick of New England in 1996.  He spent part of 12 seasons in the NFL with the Patriots, Green Bay Packers and Dallas Cowboys.  Glenn was 43.

HS FOOTBALL NEWS – SHELBY STAR TO PLAY AT VIRGINIA

Shelby High School senior quarterback Brennan Armstrong announced Monday that he’ll be playing his college football at the University of Virginia.

-Armstrong, who has led the Whippets to the Division 4 State Semi-final this Friday, previously had committed to Minnesota before his change of heart on Monday.

HS FOOTBALL – ST. PAUL PLAYOFF TICKETS ON SALE

Pre-sale tickets for St. Paul Football State Semi-Final game vs. Minster will on sale beginning Tuesday.  The game will be Friday, November 24th at 7:30 pm at Lima Spartan Stadium.

Tickets will be on sale during the following hours and locations:

MLB BASEBALL NEWS – HALL OF FAME BALLOT FEATURES TWO FORMER TRIBE STARS

Two Cleveland Indians greats are part of 19 first-time candidates on the ballot for the Baseball Hall of Fame.

-Slugger Jim Thome and legendary defender Omar Vizquel need their name to appear on at least 75 percent of the ballots in order to be a part of the 2018 Hall of Fame class.  The results will be revealed on January 24th.

MLB BASEBALL NEWS – INDIANS ANNOUNCE SPRING TRAINING SCHEDULE

The Cleveland Indians have announced their Spring Training schedule for 2018 Cactus League play in Arizona, a schedule that opens against the Cincinnati Reds at Goodyear Ballpark on February 23rd.

– Pitchers and catchers are scheduled to report to Goodyear, Arizona on February 14th.

-The Indians will play the Chicago Cubs in Las Vegas on March 17-18th as part of the 2018 Las Vegas Big League Weekend.  The Tribe ends its exhibition season with two games vs. the Diamondbacks on March 26-27th.

-The Indians regular season begins in Seattle on March 29th.

Division 7 Regional Semi-final: #1 St. Paul (11-0) vs #5 Tiffin Calvert (8-3) – LIVE on 95.3 WLKR

-Coverage begins at 7:00 with kickoff at 7:30 from Fremont’s Don Paul Stadium.

-The two teams met back in Week 3 at Tiffin, with St. Paul winning 23-7.  However, Calvert was missing their starting QB Park Hemminger, due to injury.

-St. Paul has yet to allow a point in the 1st quarter this season, outscoring opponents 163-0.  The Flyers are coming off a dominant first round playoff win over Wayne Trace last Friday, 52-13.

Cleveland Browns wide receiver Josh Gordon will return to the team today after being reinstated from suspension by the NFL last week.

-Gordon will be allowed to do individual workouts and conditioning right now; and will then be permitted to practice fully with the team on November 20th.   Gordon could rejoin the active roster on November 27th and be eligible to play in the Browns’ final five regular season games.

MLB BASEBALL – THREE INDIANS NOMINATED FOR MAJOR AWARDS

Major League Baseball has announced the finalists for their regular season awards.

-Three Cleveland Indians are among the nominees:

AL MVP: Tribe infielder Jose Ramirez along with Jose Altuve from Houston and Aaron Judge of the Yankees

AL Cy Young: Indians ace Corey Kluber is nominated with Boston’s Chris Sale and New York’s Luis Severino

AL Manager: Tribe skipper Terry Francona faces off against Houston’s A.J. Hinch and the Twins’ Paul Molitor

MLB BASEBALL NEWS – INDIANS MAKE ROSTER DECISIONS

-The Indians have extended a qualifying offer to first baseman Carlos Santana for one year at $17.4 million.  Santana has ten days to accept or decline.

-Cleveland did not make an offer to reliever Bryan Shaw and also declined their $7 million club option to relief pitcher Boone Logan, making him a free agent.

NBA – CAVS FALL TO HAWKS SUNDAY AFTERNOON

Atlanta beat Cleveland 117-115 yesterday afternoon

-The Cavs were down by as much as 16 points before cutting the deficit down to two with 21 seconds left.  After Atlanta missed two free throws with 12 seconds to go, Channing Frye missed a 3-pointer and Dwayne Wade’s tip-in attempt at the buzzer didn’t fall.

-Atlanta snapped an 8-game losing streak with the victory despite playing without five injured players.

-The Cavs are next in action on Tuesday night at home versus Milwaukee.

COLLEGE FOOTBALL – NEW AP POLL RANKINGS

Ohio State fell 8 spots from 3rd to 11th in the new AP Poll released Sunday after being dominated at Iowa.

Alabama and Georgia remained at number-one and number-2 respectively; with Notre Dame now at number-3.

-Penn State dropped 9 places to number-16 after losing the Michigan State, who is now number-13.  Michigan is now back in the top 25 at 21.

-The new College Football Playoff rankings will be released on Tuesday night.

-Truex Jr., Kyle Busch and Kevin Harvick have clinched 3 of the 4 ‘Championship 4’ spots for the final race of the season at Homestead.

MLB BASEBALL – HOUSTON ASTROS WIN GAME SEVEN AND FIRST TITLE

Houston Astros beat the L.A. Dodgers 5-1 – World Series Game Seven – last night

-The Astros win the series 4 games to 3; and capture the franchise’s first ever championship.

-Houston outfielder George Springer was named World Series MVP by tying a fall classic record with 5 home runs.

NBA – CAVS DROP FOURTH STRAIGHT 

Indiana beat Cleveland 124-107 last night

-LeBron James had 33 points and 11 assists to lead the Cavs; and Derrick Rose chipped in 19 points.

-Cavs forward Tristan Thompson could miss some action after leaving the arena on crutches last night following a calf injury.

-Cleveland has now lost four in a row.  They next play on Friday night at Washington.

NFL – GORDON REINSTATED WITH CLEVELAND

After a three-year absence due to multiple drug suspensions, Cleveland Browns wide receiver Josh Gordon has been conditionally reinstated to the NFL by Commissioner Roger Goodell.

-Gordon, who last played in 2014, is allowed to immediately join the team for meetings and workouts; but has to comply with league requirements to begin practicing with the Browns on November 20th.

-Cleveland can then activate Gordon on November 27th; meaning he could play in the Browns final five games of the season.

NFL – PLAYERS UNION FILES APPEAL TO STOP ELLIOTT’S SUSPENSION

The NFL Players Association filed an appeal Wednesday on behalf of Dallas running back Ezekiel Elliott to attempt to prevent the NFL from enforcing Elliott’s six-game suspension due to alleged domestic violence.

-The union requested the decision be by Friday so Elliott can play this Sunday.

MLB – WORLD SERIES – THERE WILL BE A GAME 7

L.A. Dodgers won 3-1 over Houston – World Series Game Six – last night

-Joc Pederson hit a solo home run in the 7th inning for L.A. as the Dodgers used five different pitchers to even the series.

-The series is now tied 3-3; with a winner-take-all Game 7 tonight in Los Angeles at 8:20 pm.  (Pitching matchup: Yu Darvish for L.A. vs. Lance McCullers for the Astros)

NFL – BROWNS MISS OUT ON TRADE

The winless Cleveland Browns missed out on a chance to acquire a new quarterback before the trading deadline.

-The Browns had reportedly worked out a trade with the Cincinnati Bengals for quarterback AJ McCarron, but Cincinnati sent improper paperwork which nullified the deal.

-The Bengals had agreed to send McCarron to Cleveland for a 2018 second and third round draft pick.

-According to a league source, the Browns and Bengals reached agreement on the deal minutes before the 4 o’clock deadline.  Both teams must send a signed document to the league office for a trade to be approved.  The Browns sent theirs to the Bengals, but the Bengals sent the league one with only their signature, the source said.

COLLEGE FOOTBALL – FIRST COLLEGE FOOTBALL PLAYOFF RANKINGS RELEASED

Ohio State is ranked 6th in the first College Football Playoff Rankings released Tuesday night.

-Georgia is first, followed by Alabama at number-two (even though Alabama is first in the AP Poll), Notre Dame at 3, Clemson at 4 and Oklahoma at number-five.

-The top four teams meet in the College Football Playoff on New Year’s Day.

HS FOOTBALL – ST. PAUL OFFERING PRE-SALE TICKETS FOR PLAYOFF GAME

St. Paul High School is selling pre-sale tickets for their home playoff game this Friday night versus Wayne Trace.

-Pre-sale Tickets will be on sale in the High School main office from 7:00 am until 3:30 pm on Wednesday and Thursday and on Friday from 7:00 am until 1:00 pm.  Pre-sale tickets are $8 for adults and students with a portion of the pre-sale tickets coming back to the school.  All tickets are $9 at the gate.

-95.3 WLKR will be broadcasting the game live beginning at 7:00 pm.
