NFL FOOTBALL – BROWNS WIN!

The Cleveland Browns beat the New York Jets 21-17 last night

-After starting quarterback Tyrod Taylor left the game in the 2nd quarter due to injury – with Cleveland trailing 14-0, Browns’ number-one pick Baker Mayfield made his debut, leading Cleveland to a come-from-behind win.  Mayfield completed 17 of 23 passes for 201 yards.

-Cleveland wide receiver Jarvis Landry had 8 catches for 103 yards.

-Browns running back Carlos Hyde rushed the ball 23 times for 98 yards and 2 touchdowns.

-It was the Browns’ first win in 635 days.

MLB BASEBALL – INDIANS WHITE SOX

The Chicago White Sox defeated the Cleveland Indians 5-4 in 11 innings last night

-Tribe starting pitcher Josh Tomlin allowed 4 runs and 8 hits in 4 innings.

-Relief pitcher Adam Cimber allowed the go-ahead-run in the 11th.

-The Indians hit back-to-back home runs in the 3rd inning – solo shots from Francisco Lindor and Michael Brantley.

-The Indians open up a 3-game series at home tonight versus the Boston Red Sox at 7:10 pm (game will not air on WLKR due to high school football).  Trevor Bauer returns from the disabled list tonight to pitch tonight for the Tribe…facing Boston ace Chris Sale.  Bauer is scheduled to pitch a few innings as he gets himself in shape for the playoffs.
