NBA BASKETBALL – CAVS PICK UP HOME VICTORY OVER DETROIT

Cleveland defeated Detroit 126-119 last night

-Collin Sexton led the Cavaliers with 27 points; knocking down 5 of 6 three-point attempts. Cedi Osman added 21 points and 6 assists.

-Cleveland played without Kevin Love, Larry Nance Jr. and Matthew Dellavedova – all due to injury. The Pistons gave Blake Griffin the night off for rest.

COLLEGE BASKETBALL – NCAA TOURNEY BEGINS – NIGHT ONE OF “FIRST FOUR” IN DAYTON

#16 Fairleigh-Dickinson vs. #16 Prairie View A&M – Tonight at 6:40 pm (Winner faces #1 Gonzaga)

#11 Belmont vs. #11 Temple – Tonight at 9:10 pm (Winner faces #6 Maryland)

WOMEN’S COLLEGE BASKETBALL – SELECTION SHOW HELD MONDAY NIGHT

-Baylor was named the number-one overall seed in the tournament; with Louisville, Mississippi State and Notre Dame receiving the other number one seeds.

-UConn (#2) did not receive a number-one seed for the first time since 2006.

-Ohio State (14-14 record), who did not make the NCAA Tournament, was selected to play in the WNIT.   They will host Morehead State on Wednesday at a time to be announced.

MLB SPRING TRAINING BASEBALL – INDIANS FALL TO PADRES

San Diego beat Cleveland 3-1 on Monday afternoon

-Jose Ramirez hit an RBI double to supply the Tribe’s only offense.

-Trevor Bauer gave up 3 runs on 4 hits in 5+ innings; while striking out 9.

-The Indians take on the Dodgers tonight at 10:05 pm.

BASEBALL NEWS – CRISP TO JOIN CRUSHERS FOR A GAME

Former Cleveland Indians outfielder Coco Crisp has signed a one-game contract with the Lake Erie Crushers.  Crisp will suit up for the Independent League team in Avon on Saturday, August 3rd.   Former Indians slugger Travis Hafner suited up for Lake Erie for 1 game in 2018.

NFL FOOTBALL NEWS – BURFICT NO LONGER A BENGAL

Cincinnati has released often-punished, veteran linebacker Vontaze Burfict after 7 seasons with the team.  Burfict has been suspended in each of the last 3 seasons and has missed 18 games due to injury and suspension during that time frame.
