Brandon Helman

Brandon began his career in radio in July of 2015, at age 21, working as an intern for WKFM/WLKR. Learning the ropes while assisting production directors on both stations, he eventually worked to the position of board operator performing various duties: monitoring sports events, live remote broadcasts, and NASCAR races. In April of 2017, Brandon became a regular part-time DJ, co-hosting the WLKR Morning Show with Melissa Sharp, and now participates in live remote broadcasts around the community. Wearing many hats, other aspects of his work entail news and weather presentation on Kool Gold 1510AM throughout the day, as well as assistance to news director Josh Bowman. In his time away from work, Brandon performs locally in acoustic duo “The B-sides”, bringing an eclectic mix of classic rock songs to a variety of audiences; and also plays bass in an original rock band called, “A Tandem Blue”. In leisure, activities include spending time in nature: riding on local bike trails, archery, target shooting, reading, and meditation. Brandon is a conservationist and a lover of animals, a stoic, and most importantly believes integrity to be paramount.
