Ottawa County/Put-in-Bay fight victim dies

A man seriously hurt in a Labor Day brawl two years ago on Put-in-Bay’s Jet Express dock has now died.

55-year-old Karl Goss sustained critical brain injuries in the 2016 fracas and was disabled until his death.

A lawsuit was filed before his passing…which alleges that Mitchell Blumensaadt, son of Jet Express owner Todd Blumensaadt, provoked a fight; and hit Goss in the face and head when he tried to intervene.

A wrongful death allegation will be added to the suit; which goes to trial next September.

A criminal investigation took place during the incident; with no charges filed.


Ottawa County/Port Clinton stabbings

Authorities in Ottawa County are investigating the apparent stabbing of two men on Sunday night near Port Clinton.

Sheriff’s deputies say they responded to a disorderly conduct call on East State Road in Portage Township where they discovered the two victims, an 18 and 33-year-old; whom were both taken for medical treatment.


Erie County/Boy suffers injuries from flare gun

A 15-year-old boy is recovering at home after being suffering a skull injury when he was mistakenly shot in the head by a friend with a flare gun in Erie County.

The incident took place outside of a gas station on U.S. 250 and Perkins Avenue in Perkins Township.

The boy was transported by helicopter to a Cleveland hospital.


Sandusky County/Air soft pistol store robbery attempt

A Fremont man was arrested after allegedly attempting to rob a hookah shop with an air soft gun.

30-year-old Andrew Myers was charged with strong-arm robbery.

After being convinced the gun wasn’t real, a store clerk reportedly chased Myers down; with Myers discarding the stolen cash.


Erie County/Volleyball fundraiser tonight

Supporters of the Huron and Vermilion School districts will come together tonight, to raise money for the family of a 15-year-old girl, battling a rare form of cancer.

Sophomore Camryn Colahan is a three-sport athlete…her father Brett is Vermilion’s football coach…he previously coached in Huron.

Tonight, there will be a benefit-volleyball-tournament at Vermilion High School to raise money for the Colahan family.

It’ll feature players from Vermilion and Huron.  The fundraiser will begin at 6.


Huron County/Firelands Electric Coop facility

After two years of planning a building, a new all-in-one facility for Firelands Electric Cooperative in New London is near completion.

It consists of a 12,000-square-foot office and 22,000-square-foot warehouse…including a 50-kilowatt community solar array…and will replace three separate buildings.

The electric co-op plans to begin conducting business at the new location on Industrial Drive in January.


Erie County/Sandusky students to sing at Carnegie Hall

Three Sandusky High School students have been selected to sing next year at Carnegie Hall in New York City.

Freshman Madeline Milas, junior Kalen Russell and senior Samantha Stack will perform in the 2019 Honors Performance series in February; after being nominated by choir director Carrie Leech.


Erie County/Local gold medal boxer turns 90

A birthday celebration today at the Ohio Veterans Home in Sandusky…Resident Pete Rademacher turns 90.

Pete made his mark in the 1956 Olympics, winning the Gold Medal in heavyweight boxing.


State News/Sherrod Brown supporters raising money

Fresh off his win for the U-S Senate…and amid rumors that he might run for President…Sherrod Brown is making news.

A group that supports the senator is soliciting donations from the party-faithful.

“Friends of Sherrod Brown” has mounted a social media campaign, asking for money, to quote, “Let Sherrod know you’re on his side”.


Local News/Busy time for post offices

The U-S Postal Service is gearing up for a busy holiday season.

They expect to deliver nearly 15-billion pieces of mail and 900-million-packages between Thanksgiving and New Year’s Day.

And…on Sunday December 16th…post offices in Westlake, North Olmsted and Strongsville will offer special hours for holiday shipping.
