Huron County/‘Failure to yield’ enforcement results

Last month, the Norwalk Post of the Highway Patrol targeted intersections and ‘failure to yield’ violations; resulting in 127 enforcement contacts.

As a result, the post said they did not have any fatal crashes during the enforcement effort.

Troopers say they will continue to monitor high crash intersections for the remainder of the year.


State News/Highway Patrol public survey

During the month of November, the Ohio State Highway Patrol is conducting an online survey to identify traffic safety concerns and obtain feedback about interactions with the agency.

The 2018 Public Survey is anonymous and takes approximately five minutes to complete.

Huron County/State Route 99 closure

Road closure in Huron County…

State Route 99, just south of State Route 547 (Monroe Street), is closing today for railroad crossing repairs.

Crews expect to reopen the road on Saturday.


Huron County/Senior Services levy

Services for the Aging in Huron County has a continuing operations levy on the ballot tomorrow.

The organization takes part in three major meal programs; as well as providing transportation and Medicare assistance.

Director Roxanne Sandles told WLKR/K96 News that the levy would cost an extra $1.75 for taxpayers.

In Huron County, you can vote early today from 8:00 am to 2:00 pm.


Erie County/New hotel possibly in Perkins Twp.

Hilton is looking to build a four-story, 80-room lodge in Erie County’s Perkins Township.

Perkins zoning inspector Megan Sherlund said they have preliminary information right now for a “Tru” hotel, an offshoot of Hilton Hotels and Resorts…that would likely go at the northeast corner of East Bogart and U.S. 250 next to a Hampton Inn, another Hilton property.


Erie County/Close to $500,000 awarded for new Sandusky pathway

Nearly $500,000 in state money has been given to Sandusky for a new recreational trail.

The grant from the Ohio Department of Natural Resources will go towards the first phase of the Sandusky Bay Pathway…which planners hope to eventually stretch from city’s northern edge to the future Landing Park in east Sandusky, next to Sports Force Parks.


Huron County/Monroeville volleyball headed to state final four

The Monroeville Lady Eagles volleyball team will be soaring into Dayton this Thursday.

The Lady Eagles defeated Wellsville in straight sets Saturday to advance to the Division 4 state semi-finals at Wright State University.

They will face reigning state champions, New Bremen, Thursday at 2:00 pm (LIVE on 95.3 WLKR).
