Erie County/Trial underway for alleged murder plot

The trial began Tuesday in Erie County for a Margaretta Township man accused of plotting to kill his wife while already in prison.

64-year-old Gerry “Gary” Moore allegedly offered $50,000 to a fellow inmate in Marion, who was due to be paroled, to carry out the deed.

Moore is currently serving time in Mansfield after pleading guilty to charges related to attempting to kill his wife in 2016.


Ottawa County/Man pleads not guilty to burglary

A 40-year-old Port Clinton man pled not guilty to assault and burglary charges Tuesday in Ottawa County Common Pleas Court.

Ryan Chaffin is accused of showing up drunk to his girlfriend’s house on Linwood Court where he allegedly climbed through a window after being told to leave.


Erie County/Record revenues for Cedar Fair

Cedar Point’s parent company, Cedar Fair, have announced record net revenues.

The company says their third quarter revenues of $664 million are up two percent over last year’s numbers, with the company to give a “pay hike” to investors.


Huron County/Nearly 60 percent of leaky gas lines repaired

An update on leaky gas line repairs in Norwalk…

Crews are close to 60 percent finished, according to Public Works Director Josh Snyder.

Crews began working in early September on an area covering 30 city blocks from Milan Avenue to State Street and from Main to League streets.


Huron County/Norwalk hydrant flushing

Hydrant flushing started up Monday in Norwalk.

The city says the project will last about two weeks.

Cloudy or discolored water is possible in some households…if that happens, residents should run cold water for up to 30 minutes to make the issue disappear.


Erie County/Vermilion new bridge

Ribbon-cutting ceremonies yesterday in Vermilion for the new bridge on Highbridge Road…

The bridge connects Vermilion Road and Liberty Avenue, and Mayor Jim Forthofer says it’ll reduce response-time for emergency vehicles in that area.


Huron County/Miss Maple City pageant this weekend

The 2019 Miss Maple City Pageant takes place Saturday night at Main Street School in Norwalk.

10 young women will compete for the crown; with the winner receiving a scholarship and the right to represent Norwalk in the Miss Ohio pageant next June in Mansfield.

Last year’s Miss Maple City winner, Matti-Lynn Chrisman, is the reigning Miss Ohio.

Miss Maple City’s Outstanding Teen 2019 will also be crowned.


Area News/Halloween wet weather

It’s Halloween, and you know what that means…

There’s a good chance, ghouls, ghosts and goblins…along with their ‘Guardians of the Galaxy’…will get wet, with rain in the forecast through Friday morning.

And the National Weather Service says people with property that’s prone to flooding, could get some, over the next couple of days.
