Erie County/Sandusky Carr Street shooting suspect arrested

Sandusky Police are investigating an early Saturday morning shooting that led to a man being sent to a hospital via medical helicopter.

Authorities say they found Sandusky resident Richard Goings shot multiple times within the 1300 block of Carr Street.

One arrest has been made…60-year-old Anthony Wright of Carr Street has been charged with tampering with evidence.


Milan/Trial begins for child rape suspect

A 36-year-old Milan man charged with multiple child sex offenses faces possible life in prison without parole as his trial begins today in Erie County.

Nickolas Moore allegedly engaged in sexual conduct with a female victim younger than 10-years-old in 2017.


Huron County/Sheriff’s Office closed to public for part of the week

Starting today and lasting through at least Wednesday, the Huron County Sheriff’s Office will not allow any visitors while their parking lot is under construction.

They will be unable to process Concealed Carry Permits and electronic fingerprinting during the construction; with only emergency personnel permitted to enter and exit the facility.

They say they’ll tentatively reopen on Thursday, barring any setbacks.


Erie County/Hotels pools may remain open

Three Sandusky-area hotel pools will remain open after health officials say they’ve seen a dramatic improvement.

The Erie County Health Department had set a deadline for today for improvements at The Quality Inn on U.S. 250 in Milan; and The Comfort Inn and Best Western Sandusky Hotel and Suites on U.S. 250 in Perkins Township…after they’d seen repeated safety violations over an extended period of time.


Erie Erie-Huron County/Road construction

Road work updates…

In Erie County, State Route 60, just north of the intersection of 60 and State Route 113, will close today for a culvert replacement.  ODOT says the road will remain shut down through November 30th.  Detour signs will be posted.

In Huron County, State Route 162 will remain closed just west of State Route 61 and just east of Lyon Road, for bridge repairs and a culvert replacement.  ODOT has updated the road reopening date to Friday, November 2nd.  Detour routes are posted.


County/Perkins police open house

Perkins Township Police are holding an open house this evening in honor of their 60th anniversary.

Visitors will get tours of the building, can meet officers and get an up-close look at law enforcement equipment.

It runs from 5:00 to 7:00 pm.


Sandusky’s pregame tradition for The Game returns in 2018

Ohio State and Michigan football fans are invited to come together for the annual Dot the i, Block the M, walk/run in downtown Sandusky in November.

It will take place on the morning of the Buckeyes-Wolverines battle on Saturday, November 24th at 8:30 am with participants starting at Central Park and walking or running between 4 to 5 miles.
