Huron County/12 years in prison for Collins drug offender

In Huron County, a Collins man is going to back to prison for 12 years after pleading guilty to illegal drug manufacturing.

This is the third jail sentence for 36-year-old Jeremiah Bennett in the last six years…he received an 18-month term in 2014 for heroin possession and also a two-year prison sentence for robbery in 2012.


Huron County/Bellevue man sentenced for abduction

A Bellevue man has been sentenced to two-and-a-half years in prison for abduction.

21-year-old Austin Bledsoe pled guilty to abduction in exchange for the dropping of rape and sexual battery charges – related to a Huron County Sheriff’s Office investigation last November.


Huron County/OVI checkpoint results

No one was caught driving impaired during Friday night’s OVI Checkpoint in Norwalk.

However, the Ohio State Highway Patrol says two criminal arrests were made for marijuana possession.

According to the patrol, 538 vehicles were checked on U.S. 250 near Lais (Lace) Road.


Huron County/State Route 162 closure

Road construction in Huron County…

ODOT says State Route 162, just west of State Route 61, is closing today for bridge repairs.

Detour signs will be posted.

The road is expected to reopen on October 1st.


Erie County/Relocation of new Sandusky City Hall delayed

Sandusky’s all-new city hall was scheduled to be opened by December 31st…but the re-location has been delayed to the spring.

City Chief Development Officer Matt Lasko says construction crews have run across a number of problems related to dealing with the 100-plus-year-old structures on Columbus Avenue and East Washington Row.

In the meantime, Meigs Street will remain the location for Sandusky City Hall.


Huron County/September is National Preparedness Month

September is National Preparedness Month…and Huron County Public Health is encouraging households, businesses, and communities to prepare and plan for emergencies.

The health department says to build an emergency kit containing items such as water, a 3-day supply of food, prescription medicine, cell phones and chargers and a weather radio…with a complete list available online at


Erie County/Revenues up at Cedar Fair

Cedar Point’s parent company, Cedar Fair, says they experienced some big time revenue increases during August.

They reported that net revenues were up $17 million compared to the same time frame last year…and that attendance jumped 5 percent.

Money made from out-of-park purchases, including resorts, increased 7 percent.


Erie-Lorain County/Vermilion ‘Duck Dash’ delayed

Officials in Vermilion hope for better weather this coming weekend.

Steady rain this past weekend prompted them to move the annual “Duck Dash” fundraiser on the Vermilion River to next Sunday…
