Huron County/Serious injury crash

A teen was flown to a Toledo hospital following a two-vehicle crash Saturday night in Huron County’s Peru Township.

Authorities say 18-year-old Matigan Obringer ran a stop sign at the intersection of Peru Center Road and Snyder Road where she pulled in front of another vehicle and was struck in the passenger door.

The driver of the other vehicle, 30-year-old Benjamin Barman, was taken to Fisher-Titus Medical Center with serious injuries.


Erie County/Two vehicle fatal crash in Sandusky

Fatal motorcycle crash in Sandusky Saturday night on Cleveland Road…

The State Highway Patrol says a motorcycle driven by an Elyria man failed to maintain an assured clear distance and struck a car from behind, ejecting the cycle driver and his female passenger.

Carl Webb of Elyria died from his injuries.  Shirley Webb was hospitalized.

The car’s occupants were not hurt.


Huron County/Patrol trooper injured in accident 

A State Highway Patrol Trooper received minor injuries in a two-vehicle crash Friday evening in Huron County.

According to the Highway Patrol, Trooper Ashley Keller was responding to a crash on Hartland Center Road in Townsend Township when her vehicle was struck by a car while crossing the State Route 18 intersection.

She was hit by a Dodge Ram driven by 53-year-old Bruce Hose of New London, who also received minor injuries.

Trooper Keller was treated and released from Fisher-Titus Medical Center.


Erie County/Camp Street fire

A Friday night fire in Sandusky remains under investigation.

A woman was hospitalized at Firelands Regional Medical Center after being hurt in the blaze on Camp Street.


Huron County/Conney sworn-in as Norwalk Police Chief

Mike Conney officially became the new police chief of Norwalk Friday afternoon in front of a packed house of supporters at Norwalk Municipal Court.

Conney, who began his career with the Norwalk PD in 1989 and is a lifelong resident of The Maple City, said it was definitely an emotional day.

Conney just wrapped up a stint as Interim Police Chief following the retirement of Dave Light earlier this year.


Huron County/Castle resigns from council

Chris Castle has resigned from Norwalk City Council.

Castle, a Democrat in Norwalk’s fourth ward, is stepping down due to a recent change in address.

The current Marketing Director at Gaymont Nursing Center in Norwalk started serving on council in January of 2016 and was in year 3 of a 4-year term.

The resignation is effective on Wednesday, the day following his last day on council.


Huron-Erie County/Arndt office hours

Republican State Representative Steven Arndt of Port is hosting district office hours today in Milan.

It runs from 4:30 to 5:30 pm at the Milan Berlin Heights library.

All residents of the 89th House District are welcome to participate.


Huron County/Street resurfacing in Norwalk continues

Street resurfacing continues this week in Norwalk…

Look for crews milling and paving on East Seminary Street from Benedict Avenue to Woodlawn Avenue as well as Chatham Street from East Main Street to St. Mary’s Street.
