Perkins Township/Multiple injuries in Thursday crash

Six people were hurt in a two-vehicle crash Thursday afternoon at the intersection of U.S. 250 and Bogart Road in Perkins Township.

Five of those hurt were inside one vehicle; with all affected taken to Firelands Regional Medical Center.

A minor non-injury accident took place after the original crash, possibly due to traffic congestion.


Norwalk/Old State Road project nearly finished

Norwalk’s Old State Road improvement project is on track to be finished by its projected date of completion.

Public Works Director Josh Snyder told City Council earlier this week that the project should wrap by July 5th, with curbs and some roadway work left to finish.


Sandusky/Ohio Vets’ home names new superintendent

The Ohio Veterans Home in Sandusky has a new superintendent.

Retired U.S. Navy Hospital corpsman, Terry Prince, has been named the new leader by The Ohio Department of Veteran Services.

Prince started his military career in 1986, and was assigned to 14 different duty stations over the years in states such as Maryland and North Carolina.

He will also reside over the Georgetown Ohio Veteran’s Home in Brown County.


Norwalk/City looking for contributions for fireworks show

 The City of Norwalk is getting ready for their annual fireworks display next month.

Mayor Rob Duncan said the city is still looking for some monetary donations to help put on the show.

For those interested in donating, checks can be made out to “VFW” and can be sent to the city in two ways; by mailing it to P.O Box 872 in Norwalk or by dropping it off at City Hall.  Donations are tax deductible.

The booms and the bangs go off July 4th at dusk


Sandusky/Old Kroger gas station site purchased

A parcel that once was the site of a Kroger gas station in Sandusky has been purchased for nearly half a million dollars.

Thor-Works Industries has sold the land on 508 West Perkins Avenue for $400,000.

The buyer has been kept confidential; but word is that the land will be used for a commercial entity, with activity to begin there soon.

Thor-Works bought the old Kroger store building in front of the parcel this past winter, which is now their equipment production center.


Erie County/First ‘Lake Erie Love’ sign installed at Nickel Plate Beach

The first Lake Erie Shores and Islands “Lake Erie Love” photo-op sign is now on display.

The sign, which is located on Nickel Plate Beach in Huron, encourages visitors to take souvenir photos while promoting travel and tourism information.
