Sandusky/Jury starts deliberating in rape trial

Jury deliberations are expected to continue this morning in the case of a Sandusky man accused of sexually assaulting two underage girls.

An Erie County courtroom Monday heard from final witnesses and closing arguments followed by the start of deliberations.

38 year-old Larry Eberling faces charges of gross sexual imposition and rape in connection with two alleged incidents in 2015.

 

Erie County/Huron and Sandusky getting medical marijuana dispensaries

Businesses in Huron and Sandusky were among 56 companies statewide Monday to receive a license to sell medicinal marijuana.

“OPC Retail” will most likely be located in Huron’s corporate park with “The Forest Sandusky” to be on Tiffin Avenue (U.S. 6) in the former site of Hoppers mobile home park and a gas station.

The dispensaries, which should be up and running later this year, are only allowed to sell medical marijuana in the forms of edibles, oils and vapors for patients with 20 pre-existing health conditions.

 

Norwalk/Road rage incident

A Norwalk man was charged with menacing after an alleged road rage incident last weekend.

Police say 31 year-old Michael Sanders got out of his vehicle and made threats towards two women in a car at the intersection of Republic and Gallup in Norwalk.

According to authorities, the women were in a vehicle that beeped their horn to let the man know he was close to hitting them after making a wide turn.

 

Erie County/$10,000 worth of meth found during arrest at Kalahari

Authorities found $10,000 worth of meth after two men from Indiana were arrested at Kalahari Resorts on Saturday.

The men allegedly were causing a disturbance when Erie County Sheriff’s officers were alerted; resulting in one of the men being charged with drug trafficking.

 

Berlin Heights-Milan/Edison debate team headed to nationals

Middle School and eighth grade students at Edison have made some history.

Their speech and debate team will take part in a national competition in Florida from June 19th through 23rd after being crowned state champs back in March.

It’s the first time in 14 years that an Ohio school is headed to nationals.

 

Sandusky/Summer recreation camps start next week

In Sandusky, school is out this week and summer recreation camps are in next week.

The City of Sandusky Recreation Department is partnering again with Sandusky City Schools, Sandusky Central Catholic Schools and area businesses.

Several camps begin on Monday including gymnastics, track and field and volleyball.

Registration forms are available online at the City of Sandusky’s website (www.cityofsandusky.com).
