Norwalk/Break-in at H&B’s

Norwalk police are investigating last weekend’s break-in and robbery of H&B’s Hop ice cream shop on West Main Street.

Police say the crime took place last Saturday night or early Sunday morning; where one or more suspects caused damage and stole some items from inside.

Authorities say to contact them with any information on the robbery.

 

Perkins Twp./School names superintendent semi-finalists

And then there were five…Perkins Schools in Sandusky have narrowed it down to five candidates to be new superintendent:

*Jeff Ritz – Willard Schools superintendent (Huron County)

*Todd Boggs – Osnaburg Schools superintendent (near East Canton)

*Matthew Chrispin – Fredericktown Schools superintendent (Knox County)

*David Heflinger – Field Schools superintendent (Mogadore, OH)

*Domenic Paolo – Fairport Harbor Schools superintendent (near Mentor)

The school says they’ll interview the candidates later this month with hopes to name their new superintendent by June 1st.

Outgoing superintendent Jodie Hausmann is leaving in August to be the new superintendent at Bay Village Schools.

 

Sandusky/Fire under investigation

State officials are looking into what they call a “suspicious” house fire in Sandusky that happened early Thursday.

No one was hurt in the blaze that occurred at a home in the 2100 block of Wayne Street.

 

Perkins Twp./Man arrested

After a several-month investigation, a Perkins Township man was arrested and charged with felony drug possession and drug trafficking.

Authorities say that 29 year-old Ronald Syverson imported steroids from China with intention to re-sell the illegal substances.

The steroids were reportedly disguised as pet products.

Syverson has pled “not guilty” to the charges.

 

Milan/New name for old road

Erie County officials have agreed to change a road back to its original name.

The once named “Shaw Mill Road”, southwest of Milan, is going back to the name of “Old Plank Road”.

This comes after members of the Milan Township community supported the renaming due to historical value.

 

Norwalk/Drive 4 UR School & High School physicals

The Norwalk High School Athletic Department has a couple of events planned for Saturday…

Five-dollar physicals will be offered at the high school from 7:30 until 11:30 am – for students who will be in grades 7 to 12 in the fall and plan on playing a sport next school year.

In conjunction with the physicals, the Athletic Department will also be hosting a “Drive 4 UR School” event.

From 7:00 am to 3:30 pm, you can test-drive a vehicle from Don Tester Ford with money going to Norwalk athletics.

The school has a goal of raising $8,000, which they say equals 300 test drives.

 

Sandusky/Former Miss America to appear at Cooke-Dorne House

International Museum Day is Saturday…and Sandusky’s Cooke-Dorn House is celebrating.

The Columbus Avenue museum will be open to the public tomorrow from 11:00 am to 4:00 pm with Sandusky native and former Miss America (1963) Jackie Mayer to sign autographs from noon to 4:00 pm.
