Norwalk/Teenager arrested on multiple charges

A 17 year-old Norwalk boy was arrested Monday afternoon after he allegedly elbowed a police officer and shattered a car window.

The boy faces charges of criminal damaging, resisting arrest, assault on a police officer and probation violation.

Authorities say they were called to Ontario Street after the boy’s grandmother said he broke her vehicle’s window.


Fremont/18 year-old found part-way responsible for death

A now 18 year-old Fremont man has been held partially responsible for another man’s death last September.

A Sandusky County Juvenile Court ruled that the man, who was 17 at the time of the alleged incident, was delinquent to the charge of aggravated vehicular homicide.

The man reportedly drove his car while another man was on the hood; with the victim falling off of the vehicle in a driveway and hitting his head on pavement.

Days later, the victim died in the hospital from the head injury.


Norwalk/Man going to prison

A 53 year-old Norwalk man is going to prison for a year.

Eugene Wilson was sentenced after pleading guilty earlier this month to attempted tampering with evidence in exchange for having two counts of drug trafficking dropped.


Sandusky/Man pleads guilty to attempted aggravated vehicular homicide

A 27 year-old Sandusky man has pled guilty to attempted aggravated vehicular homicide and operating a vehicle while intoxicated.

Police say Joshua Harkness quickly sped up his truck towards a man on East Sprucewood Drive last September; hitting the victim in the knees.

Harkness could go to prison for a year-and-a-half when he’s sentenced next month.


Western Reserve Schools/Pierson resigns

The school board at Western Reserve has accepted the resignation of former varsity girls basketball head coach Laura Pierson.

Both Laura and husband Shane Pierson, a teacher at Western, submitted their resignations Tuesday evening, citing “personal reasons”.

Laura Pierson was suspended this past basketball season due to alleged “inappropriate behavior” involving text messages with players.

Former long-time head coach Brenda Friend is replacing Pierson.


Sandusky/Sidewalks to be fixed

Sandusky City Commissioners have approved a $150,000-plus contract for sidewalk improvements throughout the city.

The work is expected to start this summer and come to a close in the fall.


Norwalk/Salvation Army summer food program info

Norwalk’s Salvation Army will be providing free meals for children this summer.

Food will be served weekdays from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm from June 11th through August 17th.

Transportation will be available for those in designated apartment complexes.

After-lunch activities are also being planned.


Vermilion/First “3rd Thursday” event of the season

The first of Vermilion’s “3rd Thursday” music events of the season takes place this evening.

Residents are invited downtown for “Music, Flowers and a Sunset” as multiple musical groups will be playing simultaneously from 6:30 pm to sundown.
