Huron/Alleged threat

There will be an increased police presence today at Huron High School due to an alleged threat.

School officials say a student discovered graffiti on a desk that threatened to “shoot up the school” on Saturday.

An investigation is ongoing.


Norwalk/Crime & Traffic stats

2017 crime and traffic related statistics have been released by the Norwalk Police Department.

According to interim Police Chief Mike Conney, DUI’s increased from 86 arrests in 2016 to 113 last year.

The top type of apprehension in Norwalk in 2017 was due to warrant arrests or summonses.

64 drug overdoses were reported in 2017.

There have been no fatal crashes in Norwalk during the last two years.


Norwalk/OVI arrests this week

Two OVI arrests were made in Norwalk over the last week.

18-year-old Zachary Rinner was arrested for alleged OVI on Tuesday at the intersection of Spring Street and Whittlesey Avenue.  A passenger, 18-year-old Logan Benfer was also nabbed on an active warrant for contempt.

On Wednesday, 24-year-old Janelle Newman of Willard was also charged with OVI in Norwalk.


Norwalk/Driver crashes into pole

A Norwalk man faces a citation for failure to control following a one-vehicle accident Tuesday.

Police say 29-year-old Joshua Adkins was travelling west on Bouscay Avenue when he ran off the right side of the road and hit a utility pole.

He was apparently distracted by a non-electric device.

No injuries were reported.


Huron Co. Public Health/Daylight Savings Time starts Sunday

This Sunday, the clocks will spring forward an hour signaling the start of Daylight Savings Time.

Huron County Public Health says this small time shift could have an effect on your health.

They suggest to not drink any caffeine a few days before and after the time change, to go to bed earlier these next few days and to get some sunlight, if possible.


Sandusky/Cedar Point job fairs

Cedar Point is looking to hire over 5,000 employees or “Thrillmakers” for its 149th season starting May 5th.

Two upcoming job fairs are planned at Castaway Bay in Sandusky:

-Thursday, March 22nd from 4:00 to 7:00 pm

-Sunday, April 8th from 2:00 to 5:00 pm

The park says they have increased wages for 2018, ranging from $9.25 to $12.50 per hour including benefits such as free access to the park and free tickets for family and friends.
