Failure to Yield causes serious injury crash in Sandusky County

Three people were seriously hurt in a two vehicle crash on U.S. 20 at State Route 600 Tuesday evening in Washington Township in Sandusky County.

The highway patrol reports that while driving north on Route 600, 33-year-old Trey Wiseman of Green Springs failed to yield at the stop sign for U.S. 20 and struck the vehicle of 66-year-old David Finney of Bellevue.

Wiseman, a 26-year-old passenger of Wiseman’s, Robert Heminger from Gibsonburg, and Finney were all taken to a Toledo hospital.

 

Bellevue man indicted for rape

A Bellevue man has been indicted on rape charges by a Huron County Grand Jury.

20-year-old Austin Bledsoe faces two counts of rape and two charges of sexual battery from a suspected incident in early November.

His bail included being prohibited from any association or communication with any non-family member under the age of 18.

 

NASA to conduct tests of Orion spacecraft in Erie County

Officials at NASA have announced plans for conducting tests on their Orion spacecraft at their Plum Brook Station in Perkins Township in Erie County.

They include a minor test in 2018 and major tests in 2019 that they hope leads to launching the vehicle into space and possibly Mars from Florida in the year 2021.

 

Cordray enters governor’s race

Another democrat has entered the race for Ohio’s next governor as former state treasurer and attorney general Richard Cordray has thrown his hat in the ring.

Cordray made the official announcement Tuesday in his hometown of Grove City, near Columbus.

Cordray recently served as director of the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau.

 

Norwalk Compost Facility to re-open for one final weekend

The City of Norwalk will re-open their Compost Facility on Austin Shadle Road for one final weekend; this Friday, Saturday and Sunday from 10:00 am to 5:00 pm.

The city opted to open the facility one last time for residents to dispose of their leaves and any remaining yard waste.

The General Services Department is done collecting leaves this year.
