Dead body found in Sandusky’s Shoreline Park on Sunday

Sandusky authorities are investigating the death of an older woman’s body found in Shoreline Park late Sunday afternoon.

The body was located by a couple walking their dog.

Police found a revolver gun under the 73 year-old woman’s body, who lived in a close-by senior high-rise building.

An autopsy will be performed in Lucas County; with results expected in around a week.

 

Police investigating threat to Norwalk High School

Police are looking into an anonymous violent threat viewed by a Norwalk High School student last week.

According to the Norwalk Reflector, the parent of a Norwalk student reported the threat to police late last Thursday; which was seen on social media.

The threat referenced this Friday as the likely date of the violent actions; if they were to be carried out.

There was an increased police presence at Norwalk High School Friday; with plans on more of the same this week.

 

Danbury SnapChat rape suspect pleads guilty

A 77-year-old Danbury Township man allegedly caught on social media sexually assaulting a young woman has plead guilty to a count of rape.

James Allen accepted a plea deal Friday from the August 8th incident where he’s believed to have been seen committing the act on the SnapChat cell phone app.

Allen will be sentenced December 8th in Ottawa County; facing up to 11 years in prison.

 

Two men shot in Sandusky in separate incidents

Multiple weekend shooting incidents are under investigation by police in Sandusky.

Two men were reportedly shot in separate events late Saturday/early Sunday morning; one near Sandusky and Camp Street, the other on West Parish Street; with both men receiving medical treatment for what appeared to be non-life-threatening injuries.

On Friday night, a man on Clinton Street was unharmed when he reported that a gunshot shattered his living room window.

Police are unsure if any of the incidents are related.

 

Detective in Erie County being investigated

A sheriff’s detective in Erie County was placed on paid leave late last week.

Justin Smith was informed that an internal investigation was taking place dealing with allegations of potential misconduct.

 

Norwalk City Council debate happening Tuesday

The five candidates competing for the four contested seats on Norwalk City Council will square off in a debate tomorrow morning at Norwalk High School.

The debate features incumbents Stephen Euton and Stephen Schumm; along with challengers Jordy Horowitz, Bryan Lamb and Vince Thompson.

It takes place at 10:00 am Tuesday as part of the Sandusky Register’s in-school debate series; which gives students the opportunity to ask questions.

 

Norwalk HS taking applications for Hall of Fame

Norwalk High School is still taking nominations for the Academic, Distinguished Citizen, and Athletic Hall of Fame.

The deadline for nominations is October, 27th; with applications available at the high school and Norwalk City Schools website (www.norwalktruckers.net).

The 2018 Hall of Fame class will be inducted in January of 2018.
