NFL FOOTBALL – BROWNS LOSE YET AGAIN IN OT

Tampa Bay beat Cleveland 26-23 in OT on Sunday afternoon

-After missing an extra point and a 40-yard field goal, Bucs kicker Chandler Catanzaro nailed a 59-yard field goal as the Browns (2-4-1) dropped their 3rd of 4 overtime games this season.

-QB Baker Mayfield completed 23/34 passes for 215 yards and 2 TDs.

-The Browns committed 14 penalties for 114 yards.

-Cleveland plays at Pittsburgh next Sunday.

Kansas City dominated Cincinnati 45-10 in the Sunday night game (Chiefs’ QB Patrick Mahomes broke an NFL record with 22 TD passes in his first 8 career games.

L.A. Chargers won 20-19 over Tennessee in London, England (Titans’ 2-point conversion failed with less than a minute left)

L.A. Rams defeated San Francisco 39-10(Rams remain only unbeaten team at 7-0)

New England won 38-31 at Chicago (Bears hail-mary attempt was caught and stopped at the 1-yard line)

Washington beat Dallas 20-17 (Cowboys missed a 52-yard FG as time expired)

Indianapolis blew out Buffalo 37-5 (Colts’ RB Marlon Mack: 126 yards & TD)

Detroit defeated Miami 32-21 (Lions’ RB Kerryon Johnson: 158 yards rushing)

Carolina beat Philadelphia 21-17 (Panthers rallied for 21 points in the 4th quarter after trailing 17-0)

Houston beat Jacksonville 20-7 (Texans’ RB Lamar Miller rushed for 100 yards & TD)

Minnesota defeated the New York Jets 37-17 (Vikings’ QB Kirk Cousins: 241 yards & 2 TDs)

COLLEGE FOOTBALL – BUCKEYES FALL OUT OF TOP TEN IN NEW AP POLL

After their blow-out loss at Purdue, the Ohio State Buckeyes dropped from #2 to #11.  Alabama remains at #1 with Clemson, Notre Dame, LSU and Michigan jumping a spot each to fill out the top 5.

-Washington State increased 11 places to #14 while Appalachian State (5-1) entered the rankings for the first time in school history at #25.

NBA – CAVS LOSE HOME OPENER

Atlanta won 133-111 at Cleveland on Sunday night         

-Hawks rookie Trae Young led all scorers with 35 points and 11 assists.

-Cleveland was led by Jordan Clarkson with 19 points while Kevin Love had 16 points and 17 rebounds.

-Cleveland (0-3) is back in action Wednesday night at home versus Brooklyn.

NBA NEWS – SUSPENSIONS HANDED OUT FROM LAKERS-ROCKETS MELEE

L.A. Lakers forward Brandon Ingram was suspended 4 games, Lakers guard Rajon Rondo received a 3-game suspension and Houston guard Chris Paul got a 2-game suspension for their involvement in a fourth-quarter tussle Saturday night in Los Angeles.

MLB BASEBALL NEWS – NEW MANAGERS NAMED

The Cincinnati Reds and L.A. Angels have new managers.

-The Reds named David Bell as their new skipper.  Bell becomes the fifth father-son duo to manage in the majors, as his dad Buddy Bell also managed the Reds.  David Bell played 12 years in MLB, including time with Cleveland.

-The Angels have chosen former Detroit skipper Brad Ausmus as their new manager.

Chase Elliott won Sunday’s Monster Energy Cup Series race at Kansas on K96

-Kyle Busch was 2nd with Kyle Larson in 3rd place.

-Failing to qualify for the round-of-8 playoffs were Ryan Blaney, Alex Bowman, Kyle Larson and Brad Keselowski.

-The Monster Energy Cup Series heads to Martinsville on Sunday.
