Danbury man a suspect in rape reportedly recorded on Snapchat

A 77-year-old Danbury Township man has been charged with rape after the video of the incident was reportedly recorded on social media.

According to the Sandusky Register, the 20-year-old female victim captured the incident via Snap-chat.

The suspect, James Allen, is awaiting his arraignment in an Ottawa County Detention Facility.


Roundabout heading to busy intersection

Plans are in the works for a roundabout traffic circle in Perkins Township.

The proposed layout would be located at the intersection of Campbell Street and West Bogart Road.

Engineers determined the need for the roundabout due to 24 reported crashes from 2003-2013.

Work on the $720,000 project would likely begin in May of 2018.


Trial starts tomorrow for Oak Harbor man accused of killing family pet dog

A pretrial hearing is scheduled today for an Oak Harbor man accused of shooting and killing another family’s pet dog.

63-year-old Paul McKee was indicted in February after reportedly shooting a Carroll Township’s family’s dog when it came upon his property after running away from home.

McKee has claimed the dog was acting vicious.

The trial will begin Thursday morning in Ottawa County Municipal Court.


Bellevue railroad museum holding fundraiser for steam locomotive

Bellevue’s Mad River and NKP Railroad Museum have begun a fundraiser to acquire their first steam locomotive.

The museum is looking to raise $250,000 to bring Nickel Plate Road Steam Locomotive #757 from Strasburg, Pennsylvania to their facility, which is the largest railroad museum in the state.

Groundbreaking today for $18 million construction project in Sandusky

A groundbreaking ceremony will take place today in Sandusky for an $18 million construction project that will add 44 new independent living cottage homes at Parkvue Community.

Parkvue, a United Church Homes retirement community, will also be adding a community center to its campus at Boardwalk Boulevard.


Erie County Fair – Day 2

Today marks day number two of the Erie County Fair in Sandusky.

It’s “kid’s day” with children under the age of 16 receiving free admission until 4:00 pm.

A truck pull also happens tonight at 7:00 pm in the grandstand.


School supply distribution tonight at Norwalk Salvation Army

School supplies will be distributed tonight in Norwalk for those that registered in the last week or so.

It will take place from 5:00 to 7:00 pm at the Salvation Army on Whittlesey Avenue.  The supplies will benefit children from Norwalk City and Norwalk Catholic Schools.
