It’s Election Day, 2013.

The polls are open until 7:30 tonight. A number of issues and races are on the ballot, including a 1.25 percent replacement income tax in the Norwalk City School District, along with a five-person race for three Norwalk school board seats. Voters throughout Huron County are deciding on a .55 mill renewal and increase, for Services for Aging. Today’s ballot also includes other school and local issues, plus races for city and village council, school board and township trustee. We’ll have complete, live election results, starting at 8 tonight.

It took a jury just 4 ½ hours to find a Sandusky man guilty of killing a woman and her two young children.

Curtis Clinton was convicted late yesterday afternoon, in Erie County Common Pleas Court. He now faces life in prison, or death by lethal injection. Jurors will return next week, to decide his fate. Clinton killed 23-year-old Heather Jackson, her daughter, 3-year-old Celina Jackson and her son, 20-month-old Wayne Jackson last September. Authorities said he also raped the young girl, along with a 17-year-old girl.

Bond is set at $200,000, for a Bellevue-area man accused of raping a woman, then leaving her bound, gagged and naked near his property.

38-year-old Brian Jury remains behind bars. He’s currently facing weapons charges in Lorain County, with more charges pending in Erie County.

The parents of a toddler from Vermilion are going to prison for starving the child to death.

A judge has sentenced James Brothers to six years in prison and Adrienne Bartholomew to three years behind bars.  Prosecutors argued 18-month-old Isaac Brothers-Bartholomew starved to death and six other children had been mistreated.

A reminder…

If you are a Firelands Electric Cooperative member living in Bronson, Fairfield, Greenfield, Norwich, Peru or Richmond Township, you will be without power for about 15 minutes starting at 1 this afternoon due to planned upgrades.

A sign of the times…

Out of 19 indictments handed down by a Huron County Grand Jury, 13 are for drugs.
