Norwalk, Norwalk St. Paul, Perkins, Clyde and Huron have all qualified for the high school football playoffs.

Friday night, in Division III, Region 8, Norwalk will hit the road and play Tiffin Columbian.  Kickoff is at 7:30 and you can hear it on 95.3, WLKR. Perkins will host Napoleon at 7:30 Friday night.  You can hear that game on K96.  Also Friday night:  Medina Buckeye at Clyde.

Saturday night, in Division V, Region 16, Huron will travel to the Findlay area to take on Liberty-Benton. 

In Division VII, Region 23, St. Paul will host Southington Chalker.  You can hear that game live at 7, on 95.3, WLKR.

 

A Huron County grand jury has charged a Massillon man accused of causing a fatal crash in downtown Bellevue.

24-year-old Morgan Jevec is now in the Huron County Jail, and is facing six counts of aggravated vehicular assault, two counts of aggravated vehicular homicide, and a single count of failing to comply with the order of a police officer. Those charges are tied to the September 17th crash that killed 36-year-old Tracy Albright of Bellevue. Authorities believe Jevec was traveling at a high rate of speed, when he slammed into the back of Albright’s stopped SUV. Both vehicles burst into flames, before a third car was hit. Albright was pronounced dead at the scene. Jevec and three passengers suffered serious injuries.

 

Closing arguments are expected this morning, in the triple murder trial of Curtis Clinton.

The Sandusky man is facing life in prison, or death by lethal injection, if convicted of killing Heather Jackson and her two young children last September. Clinton is not expected to testify on his own behalf.

 

Tomorrow is Election Day…The polls will be open between 6:30am and 7:30pm.

On the ballot: a number of local issues, along with races for city and village council, school board and township trustee. We’ll have live, complete results, starting at 8 tomorrow night.

 

Two Sandusky women are facing criminal charges, after an alleged shoplifting spree.

Police said Kimberly Cross and Tara Thatcher were arrested Friday, after allegedly stealing numerous items from the Party Place, Pat Catan’s and the Sandusky Mall. They were arrested, near ABC Warehouse.

 

A Bellevue-area man remains in jail accused of kidnapping and raping a Vermilion woman.

The woman was found Friday afternoon, bound and naked, on Strecker Road in Groton Township near the home of 38-year-old Brian Jury.  He was arrested later that day in Lorain.

 

Huron County deputies are investigating a weekend break-in, at the offices of the International Hot Rod Association, on Cleveland Road in Norwalk.

 

A 19-year-old Ohio State student is the new Miss Maple City.

Sarah Clapper of Louisville was crowned Saturday night, during the scholarship pageant held at Main Street School. She’ll represent Norwalk, during the 2014 Miss Ohio pageant.
