Longtime Norwalk school board member Janet Broz is pulling out of the race.

Broz made the announcement, at last night’s meeting.

Exactly four weeks until General Election Day.

A Sunday evening rollover crash has led to a DUI charge against a Norwalk man.

Filberto Samano was charged, after crashing his southbound mini-van on Route 61. His blood alchol content was .191, more than twice the legal limit. Samano was also charged with failure to control, and no driver’s license.

The effect in Ohio of the federal government shutdown, now into day seven, goes beyond furloughed federal workers.

Economic expert Bill LaFayette of Regionomics says the impact is rippling throughout the state. And without paychecks coming in for federal workers, many cities and villages will struggle, as they collect less sales tax revenue. The shutdown has affected more than 50,000 federal employees in Ohio.

Prosecutors claim Bobby Thompson bilked donors from 40 states of almost $100 million. Thompson was arrested in Portland last year. He’s a former member of the U.S. Army’s intelligence unit, and was a cold case fugitive wanted by the FBI since 1987.
