Last night’s official rainfall measurement in Norwalk:  1.65 inches.


U.S. Route 250, at State Route 162 in Fitchville is closing today, and will stay closed until next late next spring.

Crews will replace the bridge, over the Vermilion River. Route 250 is expected to re-open in May of 2014. An official detour is posted.


For the fourth consecutive year, teachers and support staff in the Norwalk City Schools will not receive raises to base pay.

Members of the Norwalk Teachers Association and the Ohio Association of Public School Employees Chapter 269 have agreed to a one-year contract extension with no pay increase. The extension runs through the 2014-2015 school year. The Board of Education is expected to ratify the agreement tomorrow night.


Hot tar was the cause of last Thursday’s blaze at Certainteed.

Investigators discovered the tar ignited a buildup of fiberglass material inside a machine. No one was injured. Firefighters were on-scene for three hours.


Today is the final day to register to vote, or update voter information, in time for the November 5th general election.

The Erie County Care Facility has a new name.

The county-owned nursing home is now known as The Meadows at Osborn Park. The change went into effect last week.


The Erie County Water Division will be flushing fire hydrants in Perkins Township beginning today.

During the process, residents may experience low water pressure, and discolored cloudy water.
