For the third consecutive day, a heat advisory has been issued by the National Weather Service Office in Cleveland.

It’s in effect from 1 until 8pm tonight. Today’s heat index could reach 106. There is relief in sight…mid-80’s tomorrow, and 80 Sunday.

In Norwalk, today will make it 5 straight days of 90-plus temperatures.  So far, official highs have been 92-91-92 and 93.

 

Due to extreme heat, Firelands Electric Cooperative will again implement load control of electric water heaters and central air systems between 2 and 6 today.

 

A motorcycle accident has claimed a Berlin Heights man.

62-year-old Dale Brundage was driving on Mason Road, near Frailey Road in Berlin Township early yesterday morning, when his Harley hit a deer. Brundage was thrown from the bike, and was pronounced dead at the scene. He wasn’t wearing a helmet.

 

State Route 60, at Route 162 in downtown New London is closed until further notice, due to a structural issue with a building at that corner.

Village officials said the building is decaying, and could come down. The building in question houses the Pizza Explosion.

 

Unemployment in Ohio rose 2/10th’s of one percent, to 7.2 percent in June, according to new data from the Department of Job and Family Services.

Figures show Ohio employers cut 12,500 jobs last month, second-most in the U.S.

 

A Middleburg Heights man is facing drug charges, after he was caught with 30 pounds of marijuana in his car.

Jason Powell was arrested Wednesday night, along I-71 in Ashland County. The highway patrol said the pot was discovered, after Powell was pulled over for driving without tail lights. He remains in the Ashland County Jail.

 

A new flavor of ice cream will make its debut, at this year’s Ohio State Fair.

Ohio-based Velvet Ice Cream will release Maple Bacon Ice Cream. The tasty treat will feature maple-coated bacon pieces.
