Once again, the National Weather Service Office in Cleveland has issued a Heat Advisory for the entire area, from 1 until 8.

Heat index values could exceed 100 degrees.

The highway patrol is investigating yesterday’s crash that killed two area men.

The victims have been identified as 21-year-old Dillon Spencer of Clyde, and 45-year-old James Turner of Bellevue. The crash occurred shortly before 7am yesterday, at Township Road 32, and County Road 34, three miles south of Clyde. Troopers said Spencer ran a stop sign at the intersection. Both vehicles caught fire on impact. Witnesses tried to help, but both men were pronounced dead at the scene.

Late Tuesday night, village police, Huron County deputies and U.S. Marshals seized $4,000 worth of heroin, along with other drugs, ammoand weapons, including an AK-47 machine gun. Two men were taken into custody. Scott Polachek, and Gary Polacheck will likely face drug and weapons charges.

Fair and festival season continues.

The Crawford County Fair runs through Saturday, while the Ottawa County Fair runs through Sunday. Also this weekend: The Cold Creek Festival in Castalia. It begins at 4pm tomorrow, and runs through Sunday.

Just two months after making its debut, Cedar Point’s winged coaster, GateKeeper, welcomed its 1,000,000th rider.

Marie Saenz of Michigan was the lucky one. She was strapped into her seat late yesterday morning. Saenz won a $500 Cedar Point shopping spree, a VIP tour of the park, and exclusive access to GateKeeper for the remainder of 2013.
