It’s a doubleheader baseball day, if they can play.

The Indians and White Sox are scheduled to play two games, at U.S. Cellular Field in Chicago. The first of back-to-back games is set to begin at 5:05. But the forecast for the Windy City calls for showers and thunderstorms late this afternoon and tonight. If they play, you can hear both games on 95.3, WLKR.

The state’s two-year, $62 billion dollar budget has been approved by the Ohio House and Senate.

It now needs Governor John Kasich’s signature. The budget includes an income tax cut, a sales tax increase, and a new funding formula for schools. It does not include Medicaid expansion, as proposed by the governor.

It appears Erie County’s sales tax is going up one-half percent, to seven percent.

The county commissioners have approved legislation to increase the sales tax for one year, starting this fall. The increase would generate $7 million in extra revenue. The money will go toward infrastructure and building repairs.

Charges will not be filed against a Norwalk police sergeant accused of assaulting his girlfriend in April, in Richland County.

Mansfield Law Director John Spon (pronounced spawn) said he’s not approving charges, due to conflicting reports, and insufficient evidence.

A published report says a Greenwich police officer pulled over two men wanted for questioning in connection with the death of Willard-area migrant worker Daniel J. Hernandez.

The story in the Norwalk Reflector also says the officer let them go.  Misael and Hiram Emmanuel Lopez were stopped for speeding in the village, at 12:30am June 1st.  The officer apparently ran the license plate, but didn’t ask for driver’s licenses.  They were allowed to leave a short time later.  They remain at-large.  Hernandez was found stabbed to death in his Baseline Road apartment late at night on June 2nd.
