A former Bellevue man accused of sexually assaulting two female relatives will not stand trial.

39-year-old Victor Veliz avoided trial yesterday, by pleading guilty to one count each of sexual battery and gross sexual imposition. Huron County Common Pleas Court Judge James Conway immediately sentenced Veliz to nine years in prison. Conway also labeled Veliz as a Tier III sex offender, meaning once out, he’ll have to register every 90 days for life. Nearby residents will be notified of his residential address. Before the guilty plea, Veliz faced 32 counts, and life in prison.

If you’re doing some spring cleaning, keep in mind that the city of Norwalk’s Spring Trash Pickup is scheduled for next week.

Households will be allowed to set out three large items or nine extra bags, on their normal trash day. One large item is equal to three bags, so residents may set out one item and six bags, or any equivalent combination. The pickup will be limited to household items only, including mattresses, couches and TV’s. It does not include construction or remodeling debris, such as carpet, lumber or drywall. Items with Freon must be tagged, to show the Freon has been removed.
